I know what being held hostage feels like.

Last week at WSU was Homecoming week, which is basically a sad excuse for the sororities and fraternities to party all week and celebrate the fact our football team would probably (and did) end up losing. Living in the dorms rarely amuses me, in fact usually it just irritates me- what with all of the unnecessary hall meetings and notices about bathroom courtesies. But this past week my dorm went from being a little annoying, to being almost as annoying as what I would assume raising six three year olds would feel.

Because my dorm is so “spirited” they try to get everyone in the building to attend the various activities occurring each night of homecoming week. I don’t like to participate in things like this… and if I wanted to I would go on my own merits. But I knew they would be coming around the building, knocking on doors- recruiting girls to come to the events. So because I’m brilliant- I told my friend Hilary to knock on my door in a “funny” pattern or else I wouldn’t answer.

Sure enough, the first night after I informed her of our little plan I get a knock on my door around 7 p.m. Now I’m pretty sure she (the knocker) knows I’m in my room because if the light being on didn’t give it away the music being blasted did. Still, I held my ground and didn’t answer. She stood there for what seemed like forever (2 minutes at least) and just repeatedly knocked. Finally after she left I worked the courage up to lock the door and turn my music off. I then put my i-pod in and happily went back to reading my cosmopolitan.

Fast forward a day… I get a knock on my door around 9 p.m. This time my light was off but my TV was on and I’m sure loud enough for her to hear. I don’t answer of course, and just wait it out. This time she hung around for a little longer (like 4 minutes), and then left me a little note on my mini-whiteboard about retrieving my homecoming shirt or she would “give it away”. Obviously I ignored her threats. Then! The very next day Alyssa and I are hanging out in my room, I think we were watching TV, we weren’t talking and the light was off. She comes and knocks on my door, more forcefully than the two previous times. We look at each other and start to do the “silent giggle”. Alyssa gets up slowly to look through the peep hole and then imitates the stance the girl is standing in (hands on her hips looking around the hallway). This makes me laugh a little harder and I’m pretty sure the girl may have heard us giggling. Then she eventually leaves but this time it’s like after 6 minutes at least. Then we were deciding what we should do because my neighbors door was open and we didn’t want to leave and make it obvious that we were hiding from this silly girl. So basically… at this point we’re being held hostage in my very own room. Then Alyssa utters the words, “I have to pee!”. We look around trying to figure out how to make this work, and then it happened… Alyssa peed in the sink.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder.

And that is my story. J

I did the Puyallup.

Yes… ‘tis true- I traveled across the state from Pullman to home, missed the only win the Cougs will most likely pull out of this season— all to attend the state fair of Washington. And I must say, it was completely worth it. First of all, I went with my good friend Alyssa and another friend Ellen. We skipped all of our classes on Friday and left around 7 a.m. It was such a fun ride, and due to Ellen’s speed demon skills- made it to Shelton in roughly 5 hours. We had a bumpy ride, literally and figuratively. First of all, we were driving along about to head over the pass when we saw some legit military vehicles caravanning some where. We were pretty intrigued by them and even more intrigued once we realized there were people on them. (I swear that camo actually works!) We started waving at them all, and I think there were about 10 of them in line. As we passed each one they all waved at us. It was odd/fun.

Then, in true road trip fashion- we missed an exit. Mainly because we were all talking about something and weren’t paying attention. Therefore, we drove about 4 miles out of our way, but if we wouldn’t have made that mistake we wouldn’t have experienced this next story I’m about to share.

So we’re driving along and I’m texting Tristan, then I look up to my left and see this guy in a brand new black Lexus making a dirty face at us while flipping the bird. At this point I’m slightly confused and ask Ellen what she did to piss him off… apparently she was following him to closely for his standards (and let me just say… she wasn’t very close at all- I don’t know where he drives to think that Ellen’s driving was unacceptable).

Anyways… she decides to speed past him and get away. At this point the starts to follow us. We being in the left lane- he catches up and moves over to the right lane, zooms up to our passenger side window and with his window down yells “Fuck you, Bitches!” while flipping us off – yet again. The fact that this man of about 50 years is seriously this pissed off over free-way driving and the mere way he handled the situation makes us all laugh. Of course this wasn’t very smart on our part, he becomes even more livid that we’re “making fun” of him. So he zooms in front of Ellen and begins break checking us. Which makes a lot of sense, like Ellen would really have issues rear ending his brand new Lexus in her POS. But at any rate we decide to get away from this psycho and attempt to move over, but no… he moves with us in front of us. Not letting us pass, and break checking us the whole time. Eventually he gets off to exit towards Seattle, we all blow him some kisses and wave goodbye, while he flips us off. Then we drove in silence, basically in shock from the whole situation. Had that really just happened? He was literally 50+ harassing 19 year old girls in a kia. Real mature.

Eventually, we get to Olympia around noon and my sister picked me up at the mall, then we continued to shop a bit which was good fun. Then I went home eventually and spent the evening watching TV with my mother until Jessica came over and we got some Degrassi watching in. (Yes, I’ll admit I like it).

The next day was the fair! Woo hoo! I was very excited for this because although my parents are not and never will be “fair people” they agree every year to go with my sister, myself, and now Trevor. My dad absolutely loves the hypnotist show and always finds out every possible show- and yes, we attend them all. Usually we break up and I go with my sister and Trevor to watch the important things (like a man being shot out of a cannon) while my parents continue to watch whatever act is in the venue where the hypnotist was.

Being hypnotized, or hypnotizing people really miffs me. I can’t imagine being able to “go under” while on a stage at a state fair. Maybe (and that’s a serious MAYBE) at a therapist’s office. But seriously, in public? I’m so glad that people do it though… it’s so amusing to watch. I always wonder what it feels like to be hypnotized… do you remember anything the next day? Hmmm…

Moving on… the weekend sadly came to a close, but even though it seems as though I spent more hours in the car than actually at home I’m really happy I went home. It was fun to just relax and sleep in both Saturday and Sunday. Then my mother made this fantastic breakfast on Sunday that made me never want to leave home. But then, life goes on. And that’s all that’s new with me really!

Cougar Football 08!

Today was the first game of the season! Sadly… it was HORRIBLE. If any of you caught it on TV, I’m sorry you had to see even a minute of that mess! However, I got some great photos from the day! Here a few!

Alyssa and I waiting for the tailgate party.

Emily, myself, and Alyssa at the tailgate party with yummy sangrias.

… A whole lotta crimson!

Me!

Well I hope you all are having a good day- despite the embarrassing score my cougs managed. :)

Thirsty Thursday.

Alyssa and I know how to live in up when in Pullman on a Thursday night… we have photos to prove it…

On a different note… I went to Bend this past weekend to visit my love Tristan. While I was there I took some neat photos of Pilot Butte. I really enjoy them… even though they’re through a dirty dashboard… :) However, I took some from the top as well (my new header). Enjoy!

Then on the way back to Pullman we saw some cool dust storms…

And that’s all folks! :)
